What is OLAPTIVA Eye Drops
OLAPTIVA Eye Drops is a prescription ophthalmic solution containing Olopatadine Hydrochloride IP (0.1% w/v). Designed to provide advanced relief for allergic eye conditions, OLAPTIVA acts as a selective histamine H1-receptor antagonist and mast cell stabilizer to rapidly soothe ocular itching, redness, swelling, and watering caused by environmental allergens.
Key Ingredients & Their Role
OLAPTIVA Eye Drops contains the following active components:
-
Olopatadine Hydrochloride IP (Equivalent to Olopatadine 0.1% w/v):
-
Dual-Action Antihistamine & Mast Cell Stabilizer: Inhibits histamine release from ocular mast cells and blocks histamine H1-receptors, stopping allergic inflammation at its origin.
-
Rapid Ocular Relief: Quickly eliminates itching, redness, burning, and excessive tearing caused by seasonal or perennial allergic conjunctivitis.
-
-
Benzalkonium Chloride Solution IP (0.01% w/v): Added as a preservative to maintain sterility during multidose bottle usage.
-
Sterile Aqueous Base (q.s.): Ensures optimal pH, isotonicity, and ocular comfort upon instillation.
Benefits & What It Helps With
Using OLAPTIVA Eye Drops can help with:
-
Fast Relief from Eye Itching: Reduces intense ocular itching caused by pollen, dust, pet dander, or mold spores.

Control of Allergic Redness & Swelling: Soothes inflamed conjunctival tissues and reduces eye redness and lid swelling.
-
Sustained Allergic Protection: Prevents recurrent allergic flare-ups when used consistently during peak allergy seasons.
-
Soothing Eye Comfort: Formulated in a sterile aqueous base to minimize stinging or irritation upon application.

How to Use & Dosage Advice
-
Dosage: Instill 1 to 2 drops into the affected eye(s) twice daily (8 to 12 hours apart), or as directed by an eye specialist.
-
Instillation Technique:
-
Wash hands thoroughly before use.
-
Tilt head back, look upward, and gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a pocket.
-
Instill the prescribed number of drops without touching the dropper tip to the eye, fingers, or any surface.
-
Close the eye gently for 1 to 2 minutes to allow absorption.
-
-
Contact Lens Wearers: Remove soft contact lenses prior to instillation and wait at least 10–15 minutes before reinserting them, as Benzalkonium Chloride may be absorbed by soft lenses.
